Questions

How long does the launch price last?

It runs until 31 December 2026, then the price goes back to $15. Bought at the launch price? Your license is exactly the same, with every 1.x update included.

Is this a subscription?

Not for Personal. You pay once and keep the app. Business pricing will be announced later.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Download Shotbolt and every feature works for 2 days of use, counted while the app runs. It reminds you when about a day and about two hours are left. After that, capturing and editing stop until you enter a license key; history and copying or saving your existing captures keep working.

Does it need the internet?

Only to activate your license key: Shotbolt sends the key and your Mac's name to Polar, nothing else. It checks the key again about once a day and keeps working offline for up to 30 days. Your captures never leave your Mac.

Can I use it on more than one Mac?

Yes, on two. A license works on one Mac at a time. Choose Shotbolt for 2 Macs at checkout and one key works on two Macs at once, such as a laptop and a desktop, for $7.50 more. Two Macs is the most one license covers.

What happens when I get a new Mac?

Moving is free. Choose Deactivate This Mac in the app's License window, or free the old Mac in the customer portal, which you find on the license page. Then enter your key on the new one.

What does “free updates for all 1.x” mean?

Every 1.x release is included with your license at no extra cost, and the app you bought keeps working.

Do I need an account?

Not for Personal: your license key is all you need, and your captures never leave your Mac. Planned team sharing for Business will only upload what your team chooses to share.

Can I get my money back?

Yes. If Shotbolt is not right for you, email support@shotbolt.app within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. No questions asked.

Who handles payment?

Purchases run through Polar, which acts as reseller: it handles payment, sales tax or VAT, invoices and your license key.

Are taxes included?

Yes, prices include VAT. Checkout shows the amount in your local currency where it can, such as euros in the EU.

When is Business available?

Later, with no date yet. It is planned to include team sharing: tag a teammate and they get a link. Join the waitlist by emailing support@shotbolt.app and we will let you know when it opens.

What are the system requirements?

Shotbolt requires macOS 26 on a Mac with Apple silicon.
